Hi, my name is Grace Peprah. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist committed to helping individuals and couples learn how to cope with life challenges. My work focuses on targeting unhealthy thinking patterns. My approach My approach to providing therapy is to collaborate with my clients to come up with relevant and realistic goals. The common theoretical approaches I use are Cognitive, Behavioral, and Client-Centered. My focus The types of clients I typically work with are adolescents, adults, and couples. I am most comfortable treating individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, and grief as well as treating couples with relational issues. My communication style I like to create a safe and trusting environment for my clients. One that is nonjudgmental with open communication. I am easy to talk to and refrain from giving my personal opinions but rather I use reflective listening. My journey to therapy I am an African-born therapist and therefore it comes in as a tremendous asset that helps me to understand how culture can play in role in our day-to-day lives. What attracted me to become a therapist was the passion I cultivated over the years to help people understand themselves psychologically. I believe that people can change their behaviors, thinking patterns, and cognitive distortions given the right tools and skills. My goals for you I like to use SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Bound) goals with my clients. I believe that approaching goal setting in that way will make it realistic and achievable. My first session with you During our first session together, clients should expect to experience a relaxed environment as we strive to build rapport with each other.
